A new sketch comedy group that riffs on our ever-dependent relationship with technology.
Born and raised in Perth, Matt tactfully avoided using his law degree through his national Nova nights show “The Action Battle Team” which he created with high-school best friend Dan Debuf. The show was heard around Australia in 2010 with the addition of former MTV presenter Maz Compton. In 2011 the show was promoted to prime time and Matt was the host of the Nova 919 breakfast show “Matt, Dan and Maz”. In 2012 he became a part of Melbourne's Nova 100 mornings show with “Deano”. This led to a slew of TV appearances on SBS2’s show "The Feed” and Channel 10’s “The Project".
Matt is one-quarter of the sketch comedy group “The Lords of Luxury”, with co-stars Dan Debuf (now heard on 2Day’s “Dan and Maz"), Paul Verhoeven (Triple J and ABC 3’s Steam Punks) and Luke Ryan (’The Big HOO-HAA’ Melbourne). The troupe developed its own unique variety show format called “After Dinner Mint” that saw Matt sharing the stage with the biggest names in comedy. This year he can be regularly seen performing and MCing comedy in Melbourne with improvised comedy troupe "The Big HOO-HAA" and has appeared at Perth Fringeworld, the Adelaide Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy Festivals with The Lords and his new sketch project "Good Show".
In 2013, Matt co-created a new improvised web-series called “Written it Down”. Following the overnight success of the first series, Will Ferrell’s comedy website “Funny or Die” featured the show to a large US audience. The show went on to win ABC’s Fresh Blood competition - where 25 up-and-coming comedy shows scored funding for a series on iView. Having now amassed a strong following online, it is currently being performed as a live format for comedy festivals, with Matt performing the role of host.
Owing to his incredible industry expertise, Matt has just been hired as Head of Content at “Omny Radio”, combining his love of technology with his passion for producing fine entertainment. The technology- which combines podcasts, shows and personal music collections in a personalised radio app is being embraced by media networks worldwide.
After performing live to thousands, amassing over 300,000 YouTube hits in just 2 projects and broadcasting to over a million eyes and ears - Matt is widely regarded for his careful execution and ability to assemble talented creative teams.
